Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
