Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
